Metronome and tuner.
Two tools for every practice day: free, right in your browser and without signing up. From Music Campus Bielefeld for everyone who makes music.
How to practise with beat and pitch.
With the metronome
- Start slowly. Play a difficult passage slowly enough that it works reliably, then raise the tempo in small steps.
- Hear the one. Keep the first beat accented and count quietly along. That way you feel where the bar begins.
- Mute beats. Mute individual beats and hold the tempo on your own. That trains your inner timing.
With the tuner
- Tune before every practice. Strings go out of tune through warmth, cold and playing.
- Approach from below. If a string is too high, tune it a little lower first and then up to the note. That way the tuning holds better.
- Quiet and close. Play each note on its own, close to the microphone and in as quiet a room as possible.
Keep the beat.
Choose tempo, sound and time signature. Tap a box to accent a beat or mute it. On a computer: the space bar starts, the arrow keys change the tempo, T to tap.
Tune your instrument.
Choose your instrument, start the microphone and play a note. The needle shows whether you are too low or too high. Tap a string to hear the target note.
The bar shows how loud you are playing. The marker moves with the slider: once the bar reaches past it, the tuner measures.
The sound is analysed only on your device. Nothing is recorded, stored or transmitted.
Try it first,
then decide.
